Each coffee or espresso drink can certainly be served in any mug or cup of choice. Good espresso is one key element and of course, the frothy milk is another. But one important aspect of making the perfect latte, and enjoying it, is the coffee mug and glassware.

The average coffee mug, as we know it, is designed with one purpose in mind: to be a safe option for serving generic hot liquids. In other words, we can drink our favorite beverage without getting burned. Yet this says nothing about the vessel’s ability to enhance (or obscure) the flavors of our coffee.

Demitasse (dem-E-tas) is French for "half cup." This small coffee cup holds about 2 to 4 fluid ounces (60 to 100 milliliters). They are half the size of a regular coffee cup, hence the name "half cup."
